The Dual Language Academy is a bilingual Catholic preschool and elementary school that uniquely prepares students for the future. Starting with children as young as 3 years old, our school provides a loving, multi-cultural environment for children to grow and thrive.
Now conveniently located in Central Omaha inside St. Joan of Arc Catholic School! Since opening in 2018, our enrollment has grown as we also expand our curriculum. Our classrooms bring together English and Spanish speakers for a forward-thinking education - all with a Christ-first mindset.
Families enrolled at our school become part of our larger school family, where support from fellow parents and our staff benefit the development of the whole child.
What advantages are there for my young child in a dual language program?
•Students develop full oral, reading and writing proficiency in two languages
•Students are not only able to read and write at grade level in two languages, but to eventually perform higher on standardized tests in the areas of Reading, Math and English
•Students develop very positive attitudes about other languages and cultures, making friendships that cross ethnic boundaries. We specially design our classrooms around increasing socio-cultural competence and cross-cultural understanding.
In general, these advantages are the same for both English and Spanish speakers, but research shows that a two-way immersion model helps especially English language learners become more confident and proficient.
We are more than a typical preschool program or child care center, though before and after school extended child care options are available.
Preschool-3 year olds: Five days per week Monday-Friday, full day
Pre-K - 4 -5 year olds: Five days per week Monday-Friday, full day
School days run from 8 a.m. - 3:15 p.m., with before and after extended care available.
